Saving, offline play, privacy and known limits in Operation Roaring Lion

Updated 23 Oct 2026 · Play Operation Roaring Lion

There's no save

The game runs on your device, and the campaign lives in memory while you play. Closing or reloading the tab ends it, and there's no Continue button. A campaign is built to fit one sitting: about 20 to 30 minutes, with planning pauses. Pause with Space if you need to step away, and leave the tab open.

Free, with nothing to buy

Operation Roaring Lion is free. It has no purchases, no ads, no accounts and no sign-in. If something is ever sold, it will come through the shared Earth Ablaze accounts service, and we'll say so on this page first.

No statistics

The game sends no gameplay events, statistics or identifiers anywhere. The game's server only serves files. You can check this in your browser's developer tools: watch the Network tab while you play and you'll see the game's own files, the radio clips and map tiles.

What needs a connection

  • The map's relief shading comes from the open AWS Terrain Tiles dataset, so the map needs the internet.
  • Radio clips are fetched as they're spoken.

The simulation itself runs on your device.

What's stored on your device

Three settings, in your browser's local storage rather than cookies: sound on or off, music on or off, and how much radio chatter you want (full, key events only, or off, from the radio icon in the top bar). Clearing the site's data removes them.

What it isn't

  • It's a strategy game, not a forecast. It uses real places and published equipment figures, but the outcomes, odds and stockpile behaviour are a model made for play.
  • It's fictional. Every nation, faction, leader and person is invented and named by role. Squadron, operation and drone names are made up.
  • Radio voices are recorded. They are neural-voice clips played through a radio filter, not your device's speech engine.

Devices

It runs in the browser with no install. There's no iPhone or Android app.
