The Daily Crisis and the leaderboard

What it is
The Daily Crisis is a 30-day scenario that starts in the middle of the war. Everyone who plays on the same UTC date gets the same crisis, and a new one starts at midnight UTC. It's free, and you can pick it on the briefing screen next to Campaign.
You start with the Strait already declared closed (escalation 4), mines in the Strait and one or two other zones, the oil price at $82 to $102 with stocks drawn down and insurance premiums up, and one or two launch sites already found. Your budget, political capital and the enemy's stockpiles vary by date, the Red Strand Movement sometimes arrives rearmed, and a crisis card is often waiting on the Desk. The same date and the same orders at the same moments give the same result.
Winning, losing and grades
Win and lose work as in the campaign, over 30 days: you need a 14-day average Strait flow of at least 60% of pre-war and a 14-day average price of $95 or less. You lose if political capital reaches zero or the price stays at $150 or more for 10 days. The grade comes from the average price over the run.
There's no Fight on in the Daily Crisis. When it ends, it ends.
One ranked run a day
The first Daily Crisis you start on a date, on a device, is your ranked run, whether you finish it or not. Any later run that day is practice, and it can't be submitted. The briefing says "Ranked run used: practice" once you've used it.
- Daily runs are never autosaved, and reloading the tab ends the run. A reload doesn't give you another ranked run.
- Your regular campaign save isn't touched by a Daily run.
- The game remembers your ranked runs in your browser. Clearing the site's data forgets them, along with the statistics id the leaderboard uses to tell devices apart.
How scores are ordered
Your score is the average Gulf crude price over the run in dollars a barrel, and lower is better. The leaderboard sorts by:
- days held, longest first, so an early collapse on a low average can't beat a full 30 days
- then the lowest average price
- then the most oil delivered by sea
A run that fell early shows "fell day N" beside its score.
Submitting a score
When your ranked run ends, the result screen asks for a name for the leaderboard: 3 to 20 letters, digits, spaces, hyphens or underscores. Some names are refused, and the game tells you to choose another. It's anonymous: only that name, your score, your grade, the days held and the oil delivered are shown. There's no account, and the game sends your random statistics id along so the server can keep one best run per device per date.
The server accepts at most five submissions per device a day, and only for today's or yesterday's date. If it can't be reached, the game says so and you can try again.
Reading the leaderboard
Press Today's leaderboard on the briefing, or look under your result. Your own row is highlighted, and if you're outside the top it's shown beneath the table. Use Previous day and Next day to look at other dates. The board needs a connection.
Big raids can interrupt a Daily run as escort battles, exactly as in the campaign.
